The South China Morning Post reports the Chinese National Internet Finance Association has urged internet companies to amend their data privacy practices. The request follows concerns that companies are mishandling user data for the sake of big data research. "Without consumer consent, member organisations should not collect, use or provide personal consumer information to third parties," the association said in a statement. "All member institutions should take personal responsibility for protecting personal information. Problems [if found] should be corrected immediately and reported to the association … consumer risk warnings should also be strengthened."
