According to The Washington Post, the Chinese government is allegedly building a surveillance network comprised of information from foreign and domestic social media accounts. Public records show Chinese state media, propaganda departments, police, military, cyber regulators and others have purchased new data collection technology to amass profiles on potential foreign targets. An anonymous Chinese analyst said the network seeks to help "better understand the underground network of anti-China personnel."
