Chile's Chamber of Deputies approved "the rules regarding the processing of personal data," which will now be taken up by the Senate. The rule would create the Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales to regulate the protection of personal data of Chilean citizens. Under the proposal, citizens are afforded the "right of access, rectification, deletion, opposition, portability and blocking of their personal data" and the processing of personal data is only lawful if the owner provides "free, informed and specific" consent.
