Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood and the Center for Digital Democracy wrote letters to potential TikTok buyers regarding necessary children's privacy updates for the short-video application. The letters sent to Microsoft, Walmart and Oracle outlined TikTok's past privacy issues and current allegations while also explaining the improper privacy practices that need changing. CCFC Executive Director Josh Golin said TikTok's buyer will inherit "a treasure trove of ill-gotten, sensitive children’s data" that will require a "commitment to protecting young people’s privacy."
