More childcare centers are using apps to allow parents to monitor their children while at daycare, facilitate billing and to communicate with caretakers, EdSurge reports. However, as Electronic Frontier Foundation Director of Engineering Alexis Hancock discovered, "there is really no regulating body for privacy and security" of the apps childcare centers have begun using and she found a handful of apps lacked two-factor authentication. With a lack of regulation of apps used by childcare centers, there could be three contact points where children’s data could be leaked — teachers, administrators and parents.
