In an op-ed for Fox News, former U.S. Representative Jason Chaffetz echoes Apple CEO Tim Cook’s recent support for U.S. federal regulation to protect privacy. Having served as chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee from 2009 to 2017, Chaffetz reflected on what he notes as his own efforts to introduce privacy bills and adds that he “wholeheartedly” agrees with Cook's proposal. Chaffetz writes, “Americans deserve better protection than we are getting,” adding, “Congress must act quickly to catch up and develop protections that secure the fundamental right to privacy for all Americans.” Editor's Note: The IAPP's Sam Pfeifle was in Brussels last week and reported on Tim Cook's speech in The Privacy Advisor.
