In 2002, the International Association of Privacy Officers appointed a new executive director. Twenty years later, J. Trevor Hughes, CIPP, is still at the helm — though now as president and CEO — and what was once the IAPO is now the International Association of Privacy Professionals with 75,000 members. Former IAPP board members spoke with IAPP Staff Writer Jennifer Bryant about Hughes’ impact on the organization and the privacy community. “I think of this being the best hire I ever had, and it’s been a 20-year lasting one,” said Agnes Bundy Scanlan, CIPP/US, who served as the first chairman of the organization’s board of directors.
