General secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill resigned after a Catholic media site said it accessed cellphone data appearing to show his use of the dating application Grindr and frequenting of gay establishments, The Washington Post reports. The site obtained the information based on data collected from Grindr users and said it was authenticated by an independent data consulting firm. A Grindr spokesperson denied the data could be publicly accessed.
