After it looked like a region of Belgium would hold up the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between Canada and the EU, a compromise was announced Thursday, CBC News reports. Belgian region Wallonia had opposed the agreement, but sources say the final wording of the agreement will be signed in Brussels on Friday. The report includes translated versions of the proposed text. "CETA will not weaken our respective standards and regulations in food safety, product safety, consumer protection, health, environmental or labour protection," the translated text states.
