One community in West Island has a new garbage pick-up plan that sees residents being charged for the volume of garbage they produce, CBC News reports. The Beaconsfield system will involve garbage trucks being equipped with cameras on them, which has some residents uncomfortable with what’s being filmed. “It’s an invasion of privacy,” said Beaconsfield resident Wesley Prillo. “You can’t go through someone’s garbage unless you have a warrant.” Beaconsfield Mayor Georges Bourelle said the cameras are a matter of efficiency and that once placed on the curb, the garbage becomes city property.
