CNBC reports Christopher Wylie, the whistleblower for Cambridge Analytica, believes the U.S. is "walking in the same direction as China" in terms of its privacy. "Just because it’s not the state doesn’t mean that there [aren’t] harmful impacts that could come if you have one or two large companies monitoring or tracking everything you do," Wylie said, adding that data privacy regulations are essential for the U.S. to avoid another incident like Cambridge Analytica. On whether a potential big tech breakup could alleviate privacy issues, Wylie said, "Even if the company has dissolved, the capabilities of the company haven’t."
