Californians for Consumer Privacy highlights a one-way ratchet within the California Privacy Rights Act that would allow the California Legislature to amend the law. A majority of the legislature can vote for pro-consumer privacy amendments and would not be able to take action on amendments to weaken privacy protections. "This initiative puts a floor under privacy and ensures California will continue to have the strongest consumer privacy protections in the country, while allowing the law to grow and change with the times," the group states.
