A California parent has filed a class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court against YouTube and channel operators Hasbro, Mattel, DreamWorks and others alleging they tracked children to target advertisements, MediaPost reports. Nichole Hubbard said her child watched YouTube channels geared toward children and that the channel operators collected her child’s personal information “for the purposes of tracking, profiling, and targeting” them with advertisements, adding they “actively and fraudulently concealed their unlawful acts.” Hubbard’s claims include “intrusion upon seclusion,” noting the companies violated California’s unfair competition law.
