A ransomware attack on a California Department of Motor Vehicles contractor may have compromised department data, Tech Crunch reports. The department said “the last 20 months of California vehicle registration records” may have been impacted, including names, addresses, license plate and vehicle identification numbers due to the breach of Seattle-based Automatic Funds Transfer Services. Other municipalities have also confirmed they were victims of the attack, according to the report.
