Speaking at a press conference, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra remarked on state and federal privacy laws that are designed to protect residents, as a reminder that they must be respected and enforced, The Hill reports. Specifically mentioning AB450, a new state law to protect employees against their employer disclosing information that would violate their privacy rights, Becerra said, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse if you violate it.” The press conference coincided with rumors of heightened immigration raids in the state. “Regardless of what the rumors are, the law is the law, the Constitution is the Constitution and people have rights,” said Becerra.
