StateScoop reports a bill aimed at allowing California businesses and government entities to use facial-recognition technology has failed in the state legislature. Assembly Bill 2261 was set aside following concerns raised during the state Assembly Appropriations Committee's debate Wednesday. Assemblyman Ed Chau, the author of the bill, said the failure to pass legislation might hinder the adoption of future COVID-19 tracking technologies.
