The California Legislature has presented the Parent’s Accountability and Child Protection Act to Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., for his signature. The bill requires companies that operate on a social media platform to obtain parental consent for children the business knows are under the age of 13. If signed into law by Newsom, the bill would go into effect July 1, 2021.
