City officials in Calgary are defending their decision to push back against the release of a report revealing allegations of misconduct, StarMetro Calgary reports. The report has been heavily redacted to conceal the names of the council members accused of misconduct, as well as the exact incidents that occurred. The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta has ordered the city of Calgary to release the report. “I can’t help but feel Calgarians have the right to know this information when they cast their votes at the ballot box,” Councillor Jeromy Farkas said. “I also can’t help but feel the city’s desire to try to protect these whistleblowers actually, in the end, has perhaps betrayed them because I think for justice to be done, it has to be seen.”
