Bloomberg reports on the measures organizations have started to take with their data should the U.K. fail to reach a deal with the European Union by the Oct. 31 Brexit deadline. Government departments have started to bring back personal data stored in countries such as Ireland in order to have it within the U.K., according to a source close to the matter. Ropes & Gray Counsel Clare Sellars said smaller companies should implement standard contractual clauses, however, SCCs may be too expensive for larger entities, said Linklaters LLP Partner Tanguy Van Overstraeten. IAPP Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer Omer Tene said organizations may wait for Brexit to play out and hope EU regulators do not press the subject before they potentially spend "hundreds of thousands of dollars on very expensive legal solutions."
