The Globe and Mail reports on a survey of executives that shows “Canadian businesses are pumping more money and resources into the battle against cyber-attacks, taking action to ensure the security of corporate data.” The quarterly C-Suite Survey, conducted by Gandalf Group and sponsored by KPMG, interviewed 124 executives, the report states, and found “security budgets are increasing and firewalls are being beefed up, as anxiety over possible attacks on computer systems ratchets higher.” Recent high-profile breaches have almost half of those surveyed concerned, the report states, noting “87 percent say they are now prepared for threats—although only 23 percent say they are ‘very well’ prepared.” Separately, The Toronto Star reports on a second breach of Mayor Rob Ford’s privacy.
