U.S. restaurant chain Burgerville has revealed a data breach may have exposed customer information, including names, credit and debit card numbers, expiration dates and CVV security numbers, ZDNet reports. Although the attack was detected by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Aug. 22, which notified the company of the breach, the company realized by Sept. 19 that there was an ongoing effort to steal customer’s financial information via malware. Burgerville said, "This was a sophisticated attack in which the hackers effectively concealed all digital traces of where they have been.” The attack has been attributed to Fin7, an international hacking operation that has successfully targeted at least 100 U.S. companies.
