Technologists are trying to right what they see as the wrongs of the internet by building a new one around decentralization, NBC News reports. GUN CEO Mark Nadal is building a decentralized web that avoids using the “cloud” and, instead, uses computing resources that individuals use in day-to-day life, such as smartphones and laptops. This peer-to-peer framework is then distributed and stored across billions of devices and runs on any device that has a processor and access to the internet. “This isn’t about technology individually,” Nadal said of his project. “It’s about creating an environment of opportunity that benefits everyone.”
