Bug bounty platform Bugcrowd received $26 million in Series C funding, TechCrunch reports. Bugcrowd Founder and CTO Casey Ellis said the company hopes to use the funding to incorporate machine learning into the process of scanning for bugs. Ellis said combining machine learning with traditional bug bounties using white hat hackers will result in a more complete process when searching for vulnerabilities. Bugcrowd’s clients include Pinterest, Mastercard and various government agencies worldwide. Meanwhile, cybersecurity company Proofpoint announced it has completed its acquisition of security awareness training company Wombat Security Technologies.
