MediaPost reports a coalition of broadband companies filed a motion to invalidate Maine's privacy bill because it "violates the First Amendment." In their filing to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, the companies explained the bill "excessively burdens (internet service providers') beneficial, pro-consumer speech about a wide variety of subjects, with no offsetting privacy-protection benefits." The motion follows a February complaint from the companies regarding the bill's alleged civil rights violations.
