A pair of British police forces have said they will not pilot a rollout of facial-recognition technology planned by the U.K. Home Office, the Guardian reports. Kent Police and West Midlands Police were tapped to assist in a Home Office project in which facial-recognition tech would be used to help find “missing and vulnerable persons.” Responses to freedom-of-information requests revealed both departments said they would not move forward with the trial. Another FOI response showed the British Transport Police would not take part in the proceedings, leaving the South Wales Police as the only department to help in the Home Office venture.
