Privacy advocates caution Brazilians’ casual approach to data could leave them vulnerable to data theft as the facial recognition industry targets the country, the Financial Times reports. IDP Lawyer and Professor Danilo Doneda said Brazilians “have a trust in tech that is almost unique in the world.” Brazil’s General Data Protection Law, enacted last year, includes facial recognition regulations, and Fundação Getulio Vargas Law School Professor Luca Belli said a campaign educating the public about their rights would improve its effectiveness.
