In the wake of the ECJs Safe Harbor ruling, cloud computing enterprise Box aims to make lemonade out of lemons, as the saying goes, by opening a European-based data center, The Independent reports. “In a year from now I would absolutely expect we will have customers storing their data internationally,” said Aaron Levie, Box’s CEO. “We’re building towards it now.” The move relies on an alliance with IBM, which has already established its own centers in the EU. But regardless of the steps it takes to get there, “allowing our customers to store their data where they want to is an important future direction for us,” said Box’s COO, Dan Levin.
