On the heels of a recent discovery that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police obtained BlackBerry’s “master encryption key” with help from the company itself, BlackBerry CEO John Chen wrote a blog post to highlight the organization’s dedication to user privacy, ZDNet reports. “We have long been clear in our stance that tech companies as good corporate citizens should comply with reasonable lawful access requests,” Chen said. “I have stated before that we are indeed in a dark place when companies put their reputations above the greater good.” He acknowledged concerns over the Mountie case. "Regarding BlackBerry's assistance, I can reaffirm that we stood by our lawful access principles," he said.
