Big Tech’s “data wars” against one another have left small businesses in the lurch, Simple SEO founder and CEO Brendan Egan argues in The Hill. He said the technology giants must stop “playing fast-and-loose with the small businesses they claim to support,” and cited Apple allowing users to opt out of data sharing, which deprived Facebook and Google of Apple customers’ data. Digital marketing costs for small businesses have increased upwards of 40% in the last year, he said, as Big Tech earned record profits despite their feud.
