U.S. President Joe Biden rescinded a series of Trump-era Executive Orders against TikTok and WeChat. The previous Executive Orders implemented sanctions against the applications over concerns that the data collected by the apps was passed on to the Chinese government. In Biden's Executive Order, a group of federal agencies will be tasked with providing a report to the Assistant to the President and National Security Advisor "with recommendations to protect against harm from the unrestricted sale of, transfer of, or access to United States persons’ sensitive data."
