U.S. President Joe Biden nominated incumbent Federal Communications Commission Chair Jessica Rosenworcel and former FCC official Gigi Sohn as commissioner. Rosenworcel, who has served as a commissioner since 2012, has fought “to protect an open internet” and “has been a champion for connectivity for all,” a White House statement said. Sohn, a distinguished fellow at the Georgetown Law Institute for Technology Law & Policy, has worked “to defend and preserve” competition and innovation policies that have made broadband internet access more “protective of user privacy,” the release said.
