U.S. President Joe Biden announced the nominations of Sharon Bradford Franklin and Beth Williams as chair and member, respectively, of the U.S. Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, Reuters reports. Franklin was previously co-director of the Security and Surveillance Project at the Center for Democracy & Technology while Williams was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. The nominations fill two of three open seats on the five-member board. The appointments, which require Senate confirmation, will run through the 2024.
