The cellphone data linked to the Paris attacks can no longer be accessed by law enforcement officials because a Belgian privacy law mandates it be deleted after 12 months, POLITICO.eu reports. Belgian Federal Prosecutor Frédéric Van Leeuw told the newspaper De Tijd about the issue. He said there is still new information on the phone that was used to help orchestrate the deadly Paris attacks, late in 2015. Van Leeuw is now calling on the government to address the situation. "The judicial powers [in Belgium] are independent," he said. "This means that it should have access to sensitive information, precisely to protect the privacy of everyone."
