The Belgian Data Protection Authority fined the Roularta press group 50,000 euros for its management of cookies on two websites. The ADP said the company did not meet conditions for collecting user consent for the placement of cookies under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The DPA’s Litigation Chamber President Hielke Hijmans said, “Cookies are ubiquitous on the internet, so it is essential for the protection of online user data that they are placed by site editors in a transparent manner, and in accordance with the rules in force.”
