Alexandra Jaspar, head of the Belgium Data Protection Authority’s Knowledge Center, is resigning citing a “lack of independence” within the authority, The Brussels Times reports. The European Commission is pursuing legal action over similar concerns. Jaspar said some members of the DPA “wear two hats,” which creates conflicts of interest in protecting Belgians’ data privacy. Jaspar is one of five directors at the DPA.
