Fusion reports on risks associated with the hacking of baby monitors, illustrated by numerous examples over the last few years of hackers intruding on the devices to “scream at toddlers, to curse out their parents and to turn them into spy cams.” Recently, security firm Rapid 7 tested nine Internet-connected baby monitors and found each to be flawed in ways that could allow hackers to intrude. “Eight of the nine cameras got an F and one got a D-minus,” said researcher Mark Stanislav, adding that each camera had a hidden account that “gives an outsider backdoor access to the camera.” Editor’s Note: Privacy Perspectives discussed a website that was able to link to 73,000 webcams from across the world.
