The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia announced it will launch an educational campaign to inform organizations about their obligations under the province’s Personal Information Protection Act, IT World Canada reports. The campaign will target small- and medium-sized businesses and will start March 7. The commissioner’s office plans to host webinars and podcasts, as well as release documents and animated pop-up online videos. The OPIC aims to release new tools the first Wednesday of each month throughout 2019. British Columbia Information and Privacy Commissioner Michael McEvoy said his office receives thousands of calls a year from businesses that did not understand the PIPA, which motivated the agency to start the program.
