The Detroit News reports on major automobile manufacturers’ joint work to bolster driver privacy in the face of emerging technologies. The Association of Global Automakers, which represents brands including Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Hyundai, and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which represents Toyota, Volkswagen and others, say they are working together to write consumer privacy protection principles. In comments to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this week, the groups said the principles would address geolocation, driver behavior and biometric data, all of which must be “carefully protected.”
