ZDNet reports the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity formally voiced its support for the pending Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (International Production Orders) Bill 2020. In its comments to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security regarding the bill, ACLEI said the law "will be effective in achieving the aims of facilitating access to valuable data for the use in law enforcement investigations while ensuring safeguards are in place." ACLEI's comments come after the Australian Privacy Foundation downplayed the bill.
