The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner opened an investigation into alleged use of facial recognition technology by two retailers, the Guardian reports. Consumer group Choice referred Bunnings and Kmart to the OAIC, and the agency will look at how the companies process personal information they collect. Choice previously referred home appliance retailer The Good Guys to the OAIC for reported facial recognition use, who agreed to stop its use of the tech.
