Following an independent review of health providers’ access to Medicare card numbers, the Australian government has agreed to the 14 recommended changes made in the examination, ZDNet reports. The recommendations include transitioning from a Public Key Infrastructure to Provider Digital Access, making the terms of the authentication services simpler for users to understand, and ensuring Medicare cards remain a valid form of identification. "The government takes seriously its obligation to protect the significant personal information of Australians, and is working to maintain and strengthen its defences against ever more sophisticated cyber and criminal attacks," the government wrote in its response to the findings.
