ABC News reports Australia has begun increasing public surveillance with facial recognition technology throughout the country. Law enforcement from all Australian states and territories have acknowledged the use of facial recognition, with Queensland and Western Australia using the software through closed-circuit TV cameras. Privacy and accuracy concerns have been brought forward as software trials continue. "These facial recognition systems are not foolproof," University of Wollongong Professor Katina Michael said. "People think it's a one-to-one match and it's a fallacy."
