AT&T’s recent announcement that it has acquired Cricket-maker Leap Wireless has some consumer advocacy groups voicing questions and concerns. Cricket has 4.57 million customers in 35 states who will be migrated to a new service under AT&T, the report states, but will Cricket’s privacy policy change under the acquisition? Cricket has been praised for its policy by such researchers as Christopher Soghoian, as the company doesn’t keep records of phone numbers or retain text messages, which is not the norm in the telecom industry. AT&T reps have not yet disclosed how that policy may or may not change in the future.
