Arizona State University “accidentally revealed” the email addresses of 4,000 students in a breach of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, azcentral reports. The breach occurred when ASU sent bulk emails about health insurance to students “without masking the identity of recipients,” according to the university. ASU deleted more than 2,540 of the sent emails, and more than 1,130 of the emails were unread. The university has updated privacy policies, as well as the policy for sending mass emails.
