Argentina's Agency of Access to Public Information has issued Regulation 132/2018 aimed at establishing a new mechanism for the registration of data controllers and both private and public databases. Diego Fernandez writes for Privacy Tracker that the registration will be free, does not require annual renewal, and "It is expected that the regulation will bring clarity to the registration process." The passing of the regulation happened while a bill to replace the current Data Protection Law is pending in Congress, the bill proposes eliminating the requirement to register databases altogether.
