Argentina’s Agency for Access to Public Information fined Google Argentina and Google 280,000 pesos for not complying with the Personal Data Protection Law. The authority said the company denied an individual’s request to access their own personal data after an unauthorized third party changed their passwords. Director Eduardo Bertoni said Argentina’s sanctions “provided by law are economically low” compared to those imposed in Europe, and updating the country’s Personal Data Protection Law is “an increasingly evident necessity.” (Original post is in Spanish.)
