With a dramatic rise the in the number of wearables to nearly 200 million by 2018 and the corresponding increase in security risks, CXtec’s Frank Kobuszewski asks in a column for Network World whether they’re worth the risk. “While it’s true that IT cannot possibly be prepared for every potential risk, as an industry we need to do a better job of assessing risks before an attack happens,” he writes. This “can be especially challenging considering that some of the security risk(s) lie on the device manufacturers rather than the teams responsible for security,” he adds. Banning wearables, he notes, is not an option and it “all boils down to this: Enterprise wearables present a classic case of risk versus reward.”
