According to sources familiar with the initiative, Apple has enlisted help from start-up Health Gorilla to turn the iPhone into a personal hub for medical information, CNBC reports. Sources say that the start-up is working to include diagnostic data to the iPhone by integrating with hospitals and other diagnostic tools. While both Apple and Health Gorilla declined to comment, sources say that Apple is attempting to solve the “interoperability” problem of medical records by enabling the patient to be at the center of their own care by providing tools to review, store and share their personal medical information.
