CNET reports Apple is pausing plans to require developers to obtain permission from application users before launching advertising tracking. Apple said it wants to "give developers the time they need to make the necessary changes," adding the changes will now take effect "early next year." In a news release on the delay, Network Advertising Initiative President and CEO Leigh Freund said the move "doesn't address the underlying concerns," noting that app-by-app opt-ins will "create unnecessary confusion and lead to economic hardship."
