The Wall Street Journal reports Apple is pushing back against the proposed American Innovation and Choice Online Act, alleging negative impacts on user privacy associated with its App Tracking Transparency framework. Apple Senior Director, Government Affairs, Americas, Timothy Powderly wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee saying the bill would benefit "those who have been irresponsible with users' data" while challenging the necessity of the ATT and its protections against user tracking. In response, a spokesperson for U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said the company is "more than capable of protecting privacy and security while still giving consumers greater choice by allowing competition."
